June 14 Membership Meeting

The June 2006 membership meeting of the Wisconsin Vintners Association will begin at 7:30 PM at Clifford’s Restaurant, 10418 Forest Home Ave on June 14th. The business meeting will be short with installation of the 2006-2007 club officers.  The officers to be installed at the June meeting are:

Joanne Ziarek, President
Don Betlej, Vice president
Mary Howell, Recording Secretary
John Rauenbuehler, Corresponding Secretary
Tom Courtney, Treasurer
Barb Betlej, Sergeant-at-Arms
George Scovronski, Trustee
Howard Hasselkus, Trustee
Erv Herman, Member-at-Large
Tim Larsen, Member-at-Large
Jim Remus, Member-at-Large
Chuck Howell, Member-at-Large

The rest of the evening will be a “Camaraderie” evening, a chance to socialize with your fellow winemakers. Please bring a wine glass and a bottle of your very best. This is a chance to show off the fruits of your labor to other winemakers who will appreciate it.
Bring a guest if you’d like.  Please consider coming to Clifford’s at 6 PM to have dinner and some more socializing with fellow club members. Last month we had more than 30 for the meal. This helps to cement our relationship with Jack for his permission to let us use the meeting facilities for free.

A Note from the President

This is a month for congratulations and thanks. Congratulations to all the winners in the State Fair judging held May 20. Congratulations to the newly elected officers who will be installed at the June 14 meeting. With Mary Howell elected as Recording Secretary we now have two husband and wife teams on the Board as she joins husband Chuck along
with Don and Barb Betlej. Thanks to Bob Wilson for serving as Vice President this past year.

Thanks to Paul Opichka for creating all the ribbons for the club judging winners. Thanks to everyone who helped with the State Fair judging on May 20 as judge, steward, glass washer, food helper, data entry, set up, clean up and anything else that needed to be done.  It was a great success and very well organized and for that we have to give a special thank you to Don Betlej and Howard Hasselkus for their tireless enthusiasm and the countless hours they gave to organize and coordinate this year’s restructured event in a new location as well.  Please thank them for a job “well done” the next time you see them and consider getting involved with the event next year.  Well done, Don and Howard! Thank you!

Joanne
