In spite of the threat of rain about 40 people came
to the
Lakefront Brewery picnic. A big
thank you to Russ Klisch for letting us use this great area along the
Milwaukee River for this picnic. Thanks also to Joe Jaeger, Jim Remus and
Henry Maksimowicz for bringing their grills for our cookout. The next
social event is our WVA club picnic. Don’t miss this as the grilled corn and
chicken are the best, along with all the other side dishes. The games can get
kind of competitive. Bring along some of your best wine to share. If you get to
the Wisconsin State Fair look for the Amateur Wine and Beer Awards Booth in the
Wisconsin Products Building.

August Club Picnic
The August 2009 Annual WVA Picnic will be held this
year on Saturday, August 15th at the Fox River Park in Waukesha, rain or
shine! We will have use of a large shelter with bathrooms. Note that
there will be a nominal charge to get into the park. The club will furnish
roasted sweet corn and roast chicken. You should bring your own eating utensils,
plates, a dish to pass, and of course a few bottles of your finest to share.
Al Downs will again bring his delightful red and white wine slushes for
us to enjoy. We’ll start the festivities at 11 AM and eat about noon, as
the corn comes off the grill. There will also be games to play and prizes
for the winners. The cost this year is $10.00 per member (which includes a
spouse or one guest). Additional guests will be charged $10.00 each.
Kids under 12 are free. Use this
registration form included with this newsletter to sign up for
this event. It also includes directions to the park. Registration
deadline is August 11th.
