Come to the Annual Dinner Dance
Call all of your wine-loving friends and relatives and invite them
to the WVA’s only fundraiser of the year. Have fun playing the games
and bidding on the auction items while helping our club raise funds
needed for our yearly programs.
We’re at a new location this year: the
Radisson Hotel Milwaukee West
at 2303 N. Mayfair Rd, across from the Mayfair shopping mall, with
plenty of free parking and a beautiful large banquet hall.
The party will begin with a social hour including hors d'oeuvres at
6:00 PM. Enjoy an Italian buffet including lasagna, chicken, pasta
and more starting at 7:00 PM. Live music and dancing from 8:00 PM to
11:00 PM. The games and auctions will continue throughout the
evening.
Make it a special weekend by staying overnight after the party. The
Radisson is offering a special $89.00 rate for a hotel room that
evening. Don't worry about the drive home. Instead, enjoy the pool
and sauna and check out the champagne brunch on Sunday morning.
Please mention the WVA when you call the hotel to make your
reservation.
Not a
winemaker? No problem. This year we will have a special table
with multiple cases of WVA member's wines for people to sample.
Have a glass of a hearty red with your Lasagna or a lighter one
if you prefer. There will be homemade
Rieslings, Chardonnays and other homemade varieties for you
white wine drinkers. Want to try a country fruit wine? Have a
glass or two. Howard Hasselkus, this year's Potpourri Wine
maker, has created another winner. Each table will have a
bottle of two of this wine made from a multitude of different
ingredients, making this a unique treat. All of this at no
additional charge. Please bring your own wine glasses. Club
logo glasses will also be available for purchase.
As for the club winemakers, here is your chance to showcase your
own wine and share your creations with the guests. While the
Radisson asks that only our homemade wine is served and not to
open any wine won as a prize during the evening, as you can see,
our homemade wine will be the highlight of the party! Beer,
mixed drinks and soda however can be purchased from the hotel
bar.

Donated items, purchased or better yet, handcrafted, are still
needed for the silent auction. Please bring all items to the
Radisson between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM on the day of the dance.
Attaching the donor's name and dollar value to each item will help
with record keeping and determining a starting bid. Please do NOT
bring any items on Saturday night since all set up must be completed
ahead of time. If you have any questions contact Joanne Ziarek,
Deb Stankus or Jennifer Grulke.

Club Judging on Saturday, March 14
Saturday, March 14 is the date of the 2009 annual
club judging. Note that this will again be held on a Saturday rather than on Sunday
which was customary for club judgings in past years. This event provides an
opportunity for you to obtain the WVA judges’ opinion on the quality of your
wine and hopefully their comments will be useful in improving next year’s wine.
Please also make plans to help out at this event. As usual we could use judges,
wine stewards, glass washers etc.
