Harvest Dinner

Sunday, November 15th is the date for our annual WVA Harvest Dinner and will be held at Clifford’s. Please note that because of this event there will be no regular membership meeting this month.  The Harvest Dinner is our club’s way of celebrating the time of year that yields the fruits that are the basis of our winemaking hobby.

The evening starts with appetizers followed by a bountiful buffet.  As usual it’s “bring your best” homemade wines from last year’s harvest to share with friends, old and new, and to enjoy. There will be raffles, games and door prizes throughout the evening, thanks to Jerry & Doris Horzewski and their daughter Diane Brodzik who again has organized this event this year. For those members who live far away making it difficult to attend a monthly meeting, this is a great way to meet other members and try their wines. I t’s also a great deal, at only $10.00 per person, as one half of the cost of each meal is subsidized by the club's general fund. As a thank you to Clifford’s for allowing us to hold our monthly membership meetings for no charge, please consider bringing an extra bottle of your homemade wine as a gift to Jack.

President's Blog

We do not have a regular meeting in November. Instead we have our Harvest Dinner held on November 15th. This is a buffet dinner in our regular meeting room at Clifford’s Restaurant. We have plenty of food, a chance to socialize and share some of your best wine. Also Jerry & Doris Horzewski and Diane Brodzik will have some games and drawings. The cost is only $10.00 per member, so get your reservations in. Please bring an extra bottle of your wine to share with Jack at Clifford’s, to show our appreciation for the free use of Clifford’s meeting room.

If you are still short of fruit to fill those last carboys with wine, Tropic Banana (414-271-4318) has a good supply of grapes and grape juice in 6 gallon pails.

It's Annual Dues Time Again

It's the start of another club year and that means it's dues time. The cost of a membership remains at $15.00 for a year of informative meetings, wine tastings, access to grapes and juice, other subsidized club events and just plain fun with people bonding together with a similar passion, home winemaking.

Please send your check, payable to the Wisconsin Vintners Association, to our treasurer Mike Bell at 612 Fairview Ave, South Milwaukee, WI 53172 or bring it to the next meeting.  Please use the included dues payment form that will also help us update our files with any member contact changes since last year.
